About Rick Raphael
A second-generation builder, Rick learned construction from the foundation up. He apprenticed with his father, a partner in Howard Homes, one of the most successful builders in Howard County. Rick began as a laborer and graduated to more demanding jobs through junior high and high school.
He earned a B.S. from Virginia Tech’s College of Architecture, with a concentration in Building Construction (engineering, architecture and construction management). He returned to Howard Homes as a Finishing Superintendent, responsible for taking homes to completion after the insulation stage.
Rick served as a Superintendent, then Project Manager, for a regional construction company with properties in Texas and Florida. He was responsible for bidding job, contracts, planning, scheduling, overseeing field superintendents, managing subcontractors and conducting quality inspections. He began building luxury single-family homes independently while in Florida, and returned to Maryland in 1993 to continue building luxury homes.
He founded Raphael Homes, which focuses exclusively on custom home construction and remodeling/renovations, in 1995. Homes he has built range from $400,000 to $1 million-plus.
Rick has earned a reputation for creating homes of enduring beauty and fine craftsmanship. He is a builder who personally oversees every phase of the process. A builder who has the vision and experience to take your ideas from paper to reality, and one who is generous with his time and expertise.
When Rick is not on the job site or in the office, he enjoys working out and staying fit, gardening and yard work, boating, fishing, and all sports. He’s a big fan of his hometown teams, the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles!
